dainthlen waterfalls are one of the most popular falls of cherrapunji and is about 5km from city. the waterfall gets its name from a thlen, a demon snake which was destroyed by locals to protect themselves from its terrors. there are natural rock carvings here where visitors see images of thlen. the fall is a straight drop of around 80 metres.
