namchi around 92km from gangtok and at a height of 1,675m above the sea level, it is located on the way from gangtok to pelling. namchi means the ‘top of the sky’. it is also the district headquarters of south sikkim. the people of namchi are mostly nepalis, bhutias and sherpas. the city has splendid views of kanchenjunga and rangeet valley.

samdruptse, the world’s largest statue (118 feet) of the buddhist padmasambhava, also known as guru rinpoche, the patron saint of sikkim. it lies on the samdruptse hill . as per the legend samdruptse hill is actually a dormant volcano and the buddhist monks go on top of the hill and offer prayers to the volcano calm.
temi tea garden was established in 1969 by the government of sikkim and is located in south sikkim. it is the only tea garden in sikkim and considered one of the best tea gardens in india and in the world.
